Serve your friends and family a healthy drink at your next gathering. Today’s tip offers a wonderful option. Matcha is a Japanese green tea powder made from whole tea leaves. It contains amino acids such as L-theanine, which support mental clarity and steady alertness, and it’s also very high in antioxidants. Because the whole leaf is consumed, matcha is often considered more nutrient-dense than regular green tea.
To make a refreshing iced matcha, add one teaspoon of matcha powder and about 360 ml or 1½ cups of cold water to a shaker bottle. Shake vigorously for about 60 seconds with the shaker ball. Pour over ice and enjoy. If you don’t have a shaker bottle, a jar with a lid works well, using a large ice cube to help mix. Adjust strength to taste and use ceremonial-grade matcha for best results. If it’s too strong, dilute with cold plant milk. Sweeten with maple or agave syrup or add a small pinch of stevia if desired.
